About Paul
A native Missourian born in St. Charles in 1971 and now living in
O'Fallon, Missouri, I am the oldest of four siblings. Always having had
an interest and knack for art, from the youngest age I can remember
tracing pictures from comic books and drawing portraits of friends
and family. Through years of trying to find my artistic calling, I finally
found it in photography.
My work in photography started out with b&w 35mm film photography,
but as I evolve and expand creatively I've started to explore color,
digital and toy cameras. My photographic interest span from
landscapes to street scenes, from portraits to still life, and everything
in between.
Since learning photography in 2004 I've received some recognition
within the local photography scene. Most notable for me was a solo
invitational in which I exhibit thirty-eight hand printed b&w
photographs entitled "From Here to Hannibal". For that exhibit I
traveled up and down scenic hwy 79 in eastern Missouri for about a
year taking pictures with a Holga camera. It's been the highlight of my
photographic endeavours to date and with that momentum I strive to
continue my photographic exploration of life.
Photography Experience
Though I've done well in local art
exhibits, I still consider myself an
amateur, or at least a serious
hobbyist. My art education basically
includes odd and end art classes and
some photo classes at the local
community college, but my artistic
senses are fairly acute and I
continuously study, read, and
practice to hone my skills. For now I
practice photography as time allows
with the goal of improving myself to
the point of being world famous...at
least on a local level.
